What Causes Ear Pain
Ear pain is any form of pain that can happens in the ear. The pain ranges from a burning pain, a dull or sharp pain in both ears and may happen consistently or within different time periods. Ear pain can be the result of an ear, sinus or tooth infection, cold, allergies, sore throat, objects in the ear such as wax build up, pressure changes such as high altitudes or a perforated ear drum. Ear pain is more frequent in children.
An infection in the ear can block the Eustachian tube caused by irritation and build up of secretions in the ear. Acute Otilitis is an infection of the ear canal that occurs when fluid gets in the ear while swimming or sweating and can be very discomforting. By guarding the ear from water, you can reduce the possibility of an ear infection. Acute Otilitis is caused by a bacteria known as pseudomonas and but be treated by ear drops. All ear infection can be treated by antibiotics.
A common cold can cause pressure build up in the ear and then also pain in the ear. Ear pain can also come from other things like tooth aches and headaches. When there is a blockage of the airflow between the middle ear and the back of the nose, ear pressure builds up and this can cause pain in the ear.
Sleeping on the side of ear that is not affected can cause some relief for a short period of time. Persons can utilize cold wet wash cloth to ease the pain. If pain becomes sever or fluid comes from the ear, you should not place anything in your ear and you should visit a doctor. Also if a child catches a fever or the pain worsen, this is reason to consult a doctor.
Some of the common causes of ear ache pain are:
Swimming – when you swim without ear plugs and this allows the water to enter your ear canal. There are different bacteria in the pool from all the other users of the pool. This water get into you ear and causes ear infection and you will need ear pain relief.
Common cold – this can cause pressure to build up in the ears, causing ear ache pain relief.
Injured part of the body that is related to the ear, like a tooth ache, can cause headache pain.Each of the different ear pain has different types of pain relief.
